FFGW is a network of volunteers who foster cats in their homes until the cats are adopted. We are a "virtual shelter" and have no central location. If you would be available to foster a cat, that is our GREATEST need!

Special Events

FFGW plans several big events per year (depending on time, volunteers, and how busy we are with our daily work of rescuing and fostering.) These BIG events include a booth at the National Capital Cat Show and a Holiday Bazaar for Animals -- events that we need LOTS of volunteers for. We hope the Bazaar will be back in 2010--our 15th Anniversary year!

Ongoing Needs

We have recurring needs for volunteers to participate in fund-raisers, mail-stuffing, and other promotional events, such as pet expositions.

  • Please visit our Calendar of Events to determine if you can help out at any of these fun events!
  • Please e-mail us or call our volunteer line (703-920-8665) to leave your e-mail address and other contact information so we can add you to our "friends of the felines" group list to inform you whenever these arise.
  • We always have a need for advertising and encourage you to print these flyers, to distribute and post on public bulletin boards (at libraries, coffee bars, etc.).
  • We are always looking for farms and stables for free-roaming and feral cats. These cats are spayed or neutered and prefer outdoor life with safe access to shelter and food. If you have a big heart and lots of land, please consider giving cats an outdoor home to call their own.
  • And finally...we welcome any other ideas for supporting the FFGW, and offers to coordinate alternative activities, such as gleaning damaged packages of cat food and litter from stores, seeking media opportunities to highlight our cats, and anything else you can think of to help us find more foster and adoptive homes.

Thank you for your support -- we are nothing without our volunteers!
