About Niles

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Cat
  • General Color: Black
  • Current Age: 11 Years 8 Months (best estimate)
  • Grooming Needs: Moderate

Sleek, black, golden-eyed and regal Niles is a super-social and loving cat. He was originally adopted with his sister Baby as a tiny kitten. They both love being right where their people are; following them through the house, sitting by their side, or even better, right on top of them!  Their adopters retired to travel abroad and in early Spring 2013 asked FFGW to find new homes for their precious companions. Niles and his sister Baby were sad to lose the only parents they could remember, but have adjusted beautifully to their foster home, where they have discovered that they enjoy being loved by gentle children as well as adults. Niles is very athletic, agile, playful and adventurous. He is curious and loves all varieties of cat toys. He is very social, always looking for his foster mom when the house quiets a bit.  He loves being petted, likes being picked up, carried and cuddling on the couch or bed. He likes to be talked to and happily talks back with mews and chirps. Niles regularly jumps up on the children's beds during story time and lays down to listen.  As comfortable as Niles has become with his foster family, he is excited at the prospect of sharing his affections with a permanent new love.  It  would be an added bonus if your home is on the quieter side.  He avoids the dog and the vacuum. He is good for being brushed, handled, carried, trimming his nails and is a tidy, fastidious litter box user.   Both Niles and Baby are excellent companions, but after several months in a new environment, they are no longer dependent on each other and would be happy to be adopted individually.
