Wonderful, purr-sonable Sylvia, who is declawed, turned to FFGW for help for the first time in 2005 when her original owner added a dog to the household, making her totally stressed and miserable. With her owner at the brink of putting Sylvia to sleep, we found her a foster home at the last minute. Sylvia (originally named Sylvester—how silly is that?!) made herself right at home and did her best to ignore the other adult cat in the house. Fortunately, a young couple fell in love with the then-10 year old charmer and whisked Sylvia away to the single-cat existence she missed so much. But now, at 17, Sylvia is losing the home and parents she adores due to a new baby’s cat allergies. Despite some age-related kidney changes and arthritis, Sylvia is still very much the affectionate girl her parents fell in love with. She is surprisingly playful and kittenish, with lots of love to give, and will follow you around the house and snuggle in bed at night (things she has been unable to enjoy since the baby’s diagnosis sent her into exile in a spare room). Fulfilling FFGW’s commitment to Sylvia is going to be a tall order, for her happiness turns on being an only cat, and as you can imagine, cat-free foster homes are not easy to find in FFGW! If you have no other pets, please consider opening your heart and home to this wonderful golden girl!
We have the most wonderful news! Sylvia was adopted on January 19, 2013! Her new mom reports that it was love at first sight! Our hearts are overflowing with happiness and purrs.
